Microsoft: UK Bing launch postponed until 2010

Microsoft has decided to clutch off the launch of Bing UK, delaying things awaiting the start of next year. Although the industry giant has received talented feedback from the launch of Bing in the United States, the UK market is proving harder to break.

According to MarketingMagazine.co.uk, Microsoft Bing is also not planning any marketing of the fresh search engine until the first quarter of 2010 and probable even later, say sources.

Bing has been in beta launch since June although no UK marketing movement has occurred yet. Initial feedback, according to VCCP Search Managing Director Paul Mead, shows users not emotion that Bing lives up to expectations and instantly heading back to Google.

Unlike Google which focused on creating a top-quality user experience and letting the service extend by word of mouth, Microsoft has focused on partnerships with online media owners negotiating deals that would successfully drive traffic to the Bing search engine.

One of the main reasons Microsoft believes feedback hasn't lived up to expectations is the actuality that Bing hasn't been localized to UK users.

How-to: Search preview results in Google, Bing

We all know the mathematical adage pointing how many words a picture is worth. The principal applies regularly to search results. Search for anything in Google, Bing, and Yahoo and see how extended it takes your eyes and brain to max out on all the written input. (The concept of text fatigue also applies to blog posts, which is why we've included a nice, large picture near the top of ours.)

If you browse the Web with Firefox (Windows | Mac), the free addition SearchPreview (Windows | Mac) breaks up text blocks by inserting thumbnail images of the site's homepage to the left of the text, where your eye naturally goes. If you are unsure which of the many returned links you actually want, a glance at the thumbnails could settle the dispute.

If the thumbnail image scenario sounds familiar, that's because awaiting recently SearchPreview has been known as GooglePreview.

An upgrade to version 4.0 extra supports for Microsoft Bing search engine and repositioned the product with a name change.

As you use SearchPreview, you may notice some results tagged as SearchPreview's sponsored links. These are the developer's way of recovery costs, but you can disable the sponsored results from the Options menu of the add-ons manager.
